Vintage Hermès scarf by Pierre Péron called Lancement d’un Vaisseau aux Chantiers Navals du Roy (Launch of a vessel in the shipyards of the king). Péron (1905 – 1988) was an illustrator, a decorator, a painter, an engraver, a sculptor, a caricaturist, a model maker, a film-maker and writer from Brest, France. He was named « Peintre de la Marine » (Official painter of the Fleet) by the French ministry of defense in 1942 – a title awarded to artists who have devoted their talents to the sea, the French Navy, etc.
Péron has designed around 25-30 scarves for Hermès, of which about half of them are maritime subjects.
This carré is in good vintage condition ( 50 years old). Please note two tiny pin-sized holes that could have come from scarf pins and a small aureole very little visible (last picture). The scarf has been cleaned and the shipment will be treated. Thanks.
